SCRAPS Re-Homing Elephant

These aren’t rogue animals from an exotic circus, they are left over “lanterns” from the recent Chinese Lantern Festival held in Spokane last fall.

“We received a call from Project Hope saying these lanterns were donated to them,” said Janet Dixon, SCRAPS Development and Public Relations Manager.  “We agreed to take a few and put them up for bid at our Reigning Cats and Dogs Auction on April 22nd.”

The lanterns were being housed under the pavilion at Riverfront Park but needed to find new homes as the Parks and Recreation Department begins preparing for the upcoming season.  “They are a perfect addition to our auction,” said Dixon.  “We are raising funds to pay medical bills for homeless, abused, and abandoned animals and these were definitely homeless!”

The SCRAPS Auction is an annual event that raises funds to provide for the agency’s Animal Medical Fund, Transport Program, Humane Education Program and free behavior classes and literature.  The auction takes place Friday, April 22nd at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn at the Park.  Tickets are available at www.scrapshopefoundation.org or at the shelter.  The “animals” can be viewed in the SCRAPS.
