On July 13th, five Spokane County agencies are teaming up to provide a day of fun, freebies and a little education. The event is called “Lola is on the Loose.” Lola is an imaginary dog that has escaped her yard without a license or microchip and has been seen around Spokane County.
To enter, participants can come to any of the five locations listed below between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and pick up a map. Then they need to go to all the locations, get their map stamped and help find Lola. Admission is free.
- Spokane County Parks and Recreations – Plante’s Ferry Park at 12320 E. Upriver Dr.
- Spokane County Co-op Extension Center at 222 N Havana
- Spokane County Water Resource Center at 1004 N Freya
- Spokane County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit – Plante’s Ferry Park at 12320 E. Upriver Dr.
- SCRAPS at 6815 E. Trent
Each agency will have a game or demonstration, resource information and freebies for dogs.
At the end of the hunt for Lola, participants can come to SCRAPS to find her and enter their map to win prizes.
Throughout the last five weeks, SCRAPS Facebook users have been guessing where Lola has gone. Each week a different winner has been chosen.
The purpose of the event is to showcase the different county agencies that are located outside of the County Court House and get out the message about dogs in hot cars, dog etiquette in parks and on trails and pet safety in summer.
