Despite the rising COVID-19 numbers, parents gathered outside the District 81 building to protest the opening of schools for their children. The board was not in the building and in fact, met via zoom but that did not sway this group of parents from displaying their frustrations.
One parent compared Spokane to what’s happening across the border in Idaho, acknowledging that they (North Idaho) are having “setbacks, but that’s part of it.”
The board is still set on following the Health Department recommendations on reopening and acknowledged that having Kindergartners back in classrooms had been “very positive” despite their having been ten reported cases of COVID-19 already.
