A Weather Alert is in effect for Sunday with strong winds expected across the Inland Northwest

0

Wind gusts peaking around 50 mph are possible throughout the region Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. These winds could cause power outages, downed trees and branches, and difficult travel especially for high profile vehicles. Along with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, forecast sustained winds are around 20-25 mph. This is set to be our windiest day of 2024 so far. Make sure to secure any loose objects outdoors.

A cold front moving through the region is the catalyst for the strong winds. Winds will be blowing from the southwest. After the cold front passes, cooler air from the northwest moves in briefly bringing cooler temperatures into next week. The mountains will also receive heavy snow Sunday into Monday with another round of moisture set to arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday. Low elevations including Spokane will likely receive some light snowfall with little accumulation expected. Next week is set to be wet and windy!
