AAPI adults prioritize immigration, but split on mass deportations: AP-NORC/AAPI Data poll

WASHINGTON (AP) — Immigration is a top issue many Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders want the federal government to focus on this year, according to a new poll. But they are sharply divided on some of President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed actions. The AP-NORC/AAPI Data poll finds that although there’s been a small uptick in the share of AAPI adults who have a favorable view of Trump since the November election, only about 4 in 10 AAPI adults support deporting all immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, while a similar share oppose the idea. The findings come as Trump is preparing a slew of executive orders — including some related to border security and deportations — to implement when he takes office next week.
