COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A new women’s recovery house has opened in Coeur d’Alene, aiming to support recovering addicts in the area. Absolute Ministries, which began in 2009 in Western Washington, has expanded its services to North Idaho.
The organization previously operated a pair of men’s homes in the region and is now launching a women’s house to address specific needs. Many women seeking help are court-ordered to remain within the state, prompting the need for a local facility.
The new house resembles an off-campus college residence, offering double bedrooms and a communal living space. Residents pay tuition that covers housing, living expenses, job placement programs, court assistance, and life lessons aimed at preventing relapse.
Renee Westberg, the director of the new house, is a former resident who credits Absolute Ministries with helping her reunite with her daughter. “I was a meth addict, a heroin addict… My daughter got taken from me when she was 10 months old and I couldn’t imagine living a life where I didn’t fight for her,” Westberg said. She shared that one of her life’s highlights was being permanently reunited with her daughter in January.
The center has already filled all available beds in its first house and plans to open the second half of the duplex soon to accommodate more people in need.
