SPOKANE, Wash. – U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Christopher Weichman and his family received a life-changing surprise yesterday when they were gifted a new home in Spokane as part of ‘Operation Finally Home’.

Weichman, a Bronze Star recipient, served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly 16 years. The event was organized by Operation Finally Home, Lennar, and Beyond the Barracks.

Although Weichman is not a Spokane native he served at Fairchild Air Force for many years and now him and his family call Spokane home.

Weichman and his fiancé, Carly, along with Weichman’s three children, thought they were attending a final round of interviews. They were shocked to learn they had already been chosen to receive the new home.

“We thought we were just coming in for a final round of interviews and you know, of course, we brought the kids along. We’re like, it’s probably just gonna take 10, 15 minutes and you know, if we happen to, you know, get the house great, if not another incredible family is gonna get it,” Carly said.

She expressed deep gratitude for the support shown to them.

“We’re extremely blessed to even be considered…I’m just extremely grateful for all of you guys and for all his sacrifice and the sacrifice that the kids made too. So I’m just extremely blessed. Thank you,” Carly added.

The family was escorted by Spokane police as they were driven through the neighborhood. As they arrived, representatives from Lennar, trades, suppliers, and community members welcomed them.

Weichman’s story of service and sacrifice was celebrated by everyone in attendance. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of building their new home, which they will not have to pay a mortgage for.
