AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Airway Heights Police Chief Brad Richmond has formed a lasting friendship with a young girl after meeting her at the Embrace Washington Santa Breakfast a year ago.
The young girl, who has alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease causing hair loss, noticed Richmond’s bald head during the event for children in foster care. She greeted him with, “Hey, you’re bald too,” and the two shared a brief moment by the Christmas tree, captured in a photo taken by her foster mother.
A year later, the pair crossed paths again when Richmond was shopping locally. The girl recognized him and said, “See you soon at the Santa Breakfast!”
