AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — The Airway Heights Police Department, with the help of K-9 units, seized suspected meth, powdered fentanyl and a stolen handgun from two suspects.
Police said that the incident began when an officer noticed a minivan without license plates, occupied by a woman who appeared to be under the influence. Police observed drugs in her car. Both the woman and her boyfriend declined offers for treatment and refused to allow a search of the car.
“The owners of the vehicle admitted to narcotics use, and ultimately, a search warrant was applied for and granted,” an Airway Heights officer said. “During our search, we located suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and a stolen firearm.”
Police noted that this case highlights the importance of K-9s like Rozzo and the significant role these units play in illicit narcotic searches.
