OLDTOWN, Idaho. – The Albeni Falls Dam will decrease the outflow as they approach the summer months and work towards a smooth transition.
After several weeks of controversy of the water levels of Lake Pend Oreille and the Pend Oreille River, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) revealed they will be decreasing the outflow from 43.0 kcfs to 41.0 kcfs.
As of Monday, they are still operating with the same spill gate restrictions after during a routine inspection in April.
USACE expects the lake and river to be at ‘summer pool’ by Tuesday, but that date is flexible depending on weather and hydrologic conditions.
In a press release, the USACE the levels for the lake and river will remain at 2061.75 – 2062.25 ft as measured at Hope, Idaho for the summer.
Lake Pend Oreille elevation in Hope, Idaho, currently sits at 2061.60 feet as of Monday.
