PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs knows she is outnumbered this legislative session as Republicans expanded their statehouse majorities in the last election. But the first-term governor says she sees room for bipartisan compromise. While President-elect Donald Trump swept the battleground state, Hobbs says Arizona voters also chose to send Democrat Ruben Gallego to the U.S. Senate. Voters want their elected leaders to solve the thorniest of issues and Hobbs says she will look for opportunities to find common ground during the session starting Monday. On the agenda this year will be border security, dwindling water supplies and education funding.
