SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has arrested a 28-year-old suspect involved in the deadly shooting that occurred in the Garland District.
On May 23, around 5:30 a.m., . Officers arrived within minutes at the intersection of Garland and Wall and located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to Spokane police, after police attempted to administer life-saving efforts. Police said the suspect was still on the scene when officers arrived and was quickly detained. SPD’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded and initiated an investigation.
Investigators were able to obtain video evidence showing a driving interaction between the suspect and the victim beginning at least a block from the shooting scene.
Detectives developed probable cause to charge Caleb N. Carder, 28, with Second Degree Murder. He was subsequently booked into the Spokane County Jail.
Garland Ave. between Howard and Post was closed until early afternoon with multiple businesses closing today as well.
This is an ongoing investigation, and more information will be released as warranted by police.
Police stated that the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name at a later date.
