OLYMPIA, Wash. – Barbara Streisand may be best known for her iconic film and stage performances, but she also waded into Washington state politics this month by donating to gubernatorial candidate Bob Ferguson’s campaign.
According to Ferguson, the actress contributed to his campaign in May ahead of his end-of-the-month fundraising goal.
“I reject contributions from big corporations, so I rely on individuals to fund our campaign. I never imagined icon Barbra Streisand would be one of those individuals. Thanks, Barbra!” Ferguson said.
Streisand has been a prominent supporter of the LGBTQ+ community for decades and has been critical of former president Donald Trump and congressional Republicans. She has donated to several prominent Democratic campaigns in the past several years.
Her donation to Ferguson’s campaign occurs during the midst of a busy month for him, both in his official capacity as Attorney General and as a candidate. Additional coverage on the race for the governor’s office can be found here.
