KELLOGG, Idaho – A group of four snowboarders triggered an avalanche at Silver Mountain on Saturday according to the resort.
In a social media post, Silver said that the snowfall was caused at around 1:30 p.m. by the riders hiking to a permanently closed area outside of ski lines and attempting to ride down.
While no one was injured during the avalanche, the mountain says it was a dangerous event.
“Our professional ski patrollers designate what is closed or open after careful consideration of current conditions and mitigation work. Please keep out of closed areas,” the post said.
