SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) has developed a plan, the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for transportation projects through 2028.
The 2025-2028 TIP contains 65 projects. More than $896 million of proposed transportation investments will be spent over the next four years on everything from repairing roads to creating new recreational trails.
Some examples include projects that maintain and preserve existing roads, bicycle and pedestrian projects, public transit investments, bridge repair and construction of new facilities, like the North Spokane Corridor.
“It’s a really important milestone to get the last few sections of the North Spokane Corridor in the TIP. That allows them to finish the designing… right away and finally the construction of the connection of Interstate 90,” Ryan Stewart, the Principal Transportation Planner for SRTC, said.
SRTC is made up of cities and tribes within Spokane County and it is the lead agency for transportation planning and decision making in the Spokane-metropolitan area.
The draft of the TIP is on SRTC’s website and provides specific information about how projects will be distributed throughout Spokane County.
On Thursday, September 26, SRTC is hosting a hybrid in-person/online public meeting about the TIP from noon to 1 p.m.
Staff from SRTC and partner agencies will share information about future transportation projects.
There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions and share their input.
“We want to hear their opinions about how effective those investments are. If they have any concerns about them, if they want more information. That’s the purpose of this month-long public comment period,” Stewart said.
This event will be held at SRTC, located at 421 W Riverside Ave Suite 500, Spokane WA 99201 and on Zoom https://bit.ly/TIP25.
