SPOKANE, Wash. – A man was arrested after riding a bike dangerously in the road causing driving hazards and injuring a Spokane police officer.
On Sept. 22 around 9:30 a.m. a man was reported to be riding his bike in the road going towards oncoming traffic.
Spokane Police Department responded to Browne near Riverside and attempted to talk to the man. He was identified as Jacob Eckelkamp, 36.
Drivers in the area had to slow down and drive around Eckelkamp causing traffic and hazardous conditions.
Eckelkamp continued riding dangerously and would not respond to officers’ commands.
An officer attempted to stop Eckelkamp near Main and Wall and Eckelkamp resisted pushing over an officer who received a head injury.
A short time later Eckelkamp was taken into custody after dropping the bike. He was booked into Spokane County Jail for pedestrian and vehicle interference, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer.
According to the Spokane County Jail Roster, Eckelkamp was released from jail without bond.
