GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – The body of a Tacoma man who had been missing since July 5 at Banks Lake was recovered on Tuesday, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Ciobanu, 28, was found after an extensive search throughout the weekend. His family has been notified.
Ciobanu and a woman were riding on a paddleboard on Friday when breezy conditions reportedly caused the two to fall at around 8:30 a.m. The woman made it to shore but Ciobanu went under and did not return to the surface.
Visibility was poor throughout the search due to thick aquatic vegetation.
GCSO says Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison’s staff will perform an autopsy to confirm the cause of Ciobanu’s death.
