SPOKANE, Wash. — GOLFTEC and Byram Healthcare are two businesses that will be impacted when construction begins on the intersection of Boone Avenue and South Washington Street in downtown Spokane.
The City of Spokane said construction at this intersection will be on water and sewer lines that are more than 100 years old. They said signal replacement and grind and overlay work will also take place.
The City expects the construction to take a few weeks. Byram Healthcare will close for three days due to the construction, but GOLFTEC will remain open.
“They came and talked to us about a week ago. I guess we’ll be hooked up with water through some type of hose or something, but it definitely is going to affect business,” Michael Jankovich, Golf Professional at GOLFTEC, said.
The City of Spokane made this map to show the affected areas.
Jankovich said he is not surprised and has seen them working near the business.
“Yes, they have been working on this area for a while,” Jankovich said.
The City of Spokane said this begins months of planned work to repair the roadway on Washington Street, including placing a new deck overlay on the Washington Street bridge.
People who travel this road are often advised to take alternate routes and expect some wait times if traveling near this area for an event, the City said.
