LOS ANGELES (AP) — Animal owners in Los Angeles have scrambled to get themselves and their beloved companions out of the way of fast-moving wildfires this week that have incinerated whole neighborhoods. Shelters have been inundated with dogs and cats, though one is looking after a bird, a turtle and a snake as well. Arianna Buturovic managed to evacuate nearly 30 animals from her rescue shelter outside Los Angeles for dogs on the verge of being euthanized. But being harder to evacuate, some larger animals were left behind. That includes a 3-year-old black mare, who her rescuer Julia Bagan says was badly burned after being trapped in an outdoor pen.
