Car drives into historic downtown Spokesman-Review building

SPOKANE, Wash. – Updated on Nov. 8 at 6 a.m. – The historic Spokesman-Review building was damaged in what police say was a DUI crash early Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday, and the Spokane Police Department is investigating the crash as a DUI.

Security footage of the crash exists, and efforts are underway to obtain it. Building management is currently reviewing the request to release the footage.

The building that was originally which was built in 1890 was damaged in the crash. A tree was uprooted, and a sign was knocked down, and scuff marks are visible on the building’s wall.

Original Coverage on Nov. 8 at 3 a.m. – In the early morning hours in downtown Spokane a truck drove into The Spokesman-Review building.

Police say the driver had been taken to the hospital.

Visual damage to the building shows sideswipe marks, a down tree, and broken lime scooters.

The building was constructed an 1890 and is the home of The Spokesman-Review.
