Carjacking on South Hill leads to police chase, arrest

SPOKANE, Wash. – A carjacking on the South Hill led to a brief police pursuit and arrest Friday night.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), the carjacking took place at about 6 p.m. and led to a police chase. After officers attempted to stop the vehicle with a PIT maneuver, the pursuit was stopped in the interest of public safety.

At about 7:30 p.m., a heavy police presence on East 37th Avenue west of Regal slowed traffic and a man could be seen being taken into custody. SPD confirmed that the carjacking suspect was arrested on 37th.
