SANDPOINT, Idaho — A child died following a crash on U.S. 95 near Sandpoint on Friday morning.
According to the Idaho State Patrol (ISP), at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, a 61-year-old man was driving southbound in a truck when he crossed into the northbound lane to pass several cars traveling southbound. The truck crashed with an SUV traveling northbound. The SUV was driven by a 33-year-old woman with a child passenger.
ISP said both the truck driver and the SUV driver were transported to the hospital. However, the child later died from their injuries.
The highway was intermittently blocked for about three hours while traffic was alternated.
