Child rape suspect re-arrested after selling firearms breaking release terms

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man arrested for child rape was recently re-arrested after violating his release terms by selling firearms.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Ray Thurman sold two firearms to Northwest Pawn and Collector Arms on Feb. 4, violating his release terms, which state that he “may not own, possess, or control a firearm.”

The release agreement was made after Thurman was charged with child rape and child molestation of a seven-year-old in August.

A request to arrest Thurman was submitted on Feb. 6 after an officer found the firearm sale through a local pawn database program and confirmed Thurman’s identity through ID verification with the pawn shop.

Thurman sold both a folding rifle as well as a shotgun which both were in working and usable condition.

Police were able to locate the vehicle connected to Thurman on Feb. 14, and he was apprehended shortly after at a nearby home.

Thurman is awaiting trial for his charges.
