SPOKANE, Wash. – City of Spokane has been preparing shelters for the homeless as harsh winter conditions pose danger for those outside.

New Mayor of Spokane, Lisa Brown announced a state of emergency for the cold conditions. This opened new doors for resources for those who might be living on the street.

Adding additional warming shelter and beds is a priority for city officials as new data shows that unsheltered population was up 16% from last year.
