COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Jim Hammond, the Mayor of Coeur d’Alene, announced his resignation on Monday after serving for more than two years.
Hammond will resign on August 31, not completing his four-year term, but he expressed his gratitude and hope for the future.
“It has been a privilege to work with and learn from you. I am announcing my impending departure now to ensure that you have sufficient time to select my successor,” Hammond said.
The City Council will select a new mayor to finish Hammond’s term.
Hammond and his wife plan to move to Colorado following his departure to be closer to their youngest son and grandchildren.
