SPOKANE, Wash. – A woman accused of stabbing a Spokane County sheriff’s deputy will undergo a competency evaluation to assess whether she is able to stand trial.
Gloria Endress is during a welfare check after acting erratically on the 3000 block of West West Wildrose Road.
The deputy has since recovered from surgery while Endress awaits a review as to whether she can stand trial. According to the competency evaluation filing, Endress has been under nine involuntary mental health holds since 2012, including a 90-day-hold in Feb. 2024.
If an individual is found to be not mentally competent enough to stand trial in Washington State, their civil rights are restricted and they are most often submitted to a mental health institution.
