RATHDRUM, Idaho — A heated debate for the Board of Trustees in Rathdrum led to a book being removed from a school in Rathdrum.

According to Lakeland Middle School officials, a special meeting was held to discuss a book called The Truth as Told By Mason Buttle. The book follows the plot of a boy who has dyslexia who is mourning the loss of his best friend, who was bullied and killed, and police think the boy was involved.

After parents found out what the students were reading, some emailed the board concerned about the book’s content. The decision was to remove the book from the school.
