Cooling resources available during hot weekend in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane could break heat records this weekend as the region The City of Spokane will offer several cooling resources throughout the heat wave.

Several Spokane Public Library locations will remain open during regular hours, with extended hours until 7 p.m. at the Liberty Park, Indian Trial and Central branches.

A cooling tent will be open at the Trent Resource and Assistance Center (TRAC) during the day. The center is currently accepting donations of water and sports drinks.

When the heat is above 95 degrees, anyone can ride a Spokane Transit Authority bus for free if they tell the driver that they are seeking cooling areas.

The Spokane Parks Foundation and Providence will cohost a free neighborhood pool party at the Liberty Aquatics Center on Friday night from 6:30 to 8: p.m. Free food and treats will also be available.
