LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — A Costco rumored to be coming to Liberty Lake has been scrapped.
According to the Spokesman-Review, a third-party company that had signed a purchase agreement for a large tract of land in Liberty Lake, reportedly for a new Costco location, recently backed out of the deal. As a result, the retail giant will not be expanding in the area anytime soon.
Doug Yost, vice president of development and acquisition for Cowles Real Estate Company, which owns Centennial Properties, told the Spokesman-Review, “At this point, it is not going forward.”
Centennial Properties owns the roughly 38 acres of land south of Interstate 90, located north of East Country Vista Drive, west of North Kramer Parkway, and just northeast of Ridgeline High School.
Although Yost could not confirm that the retailer was Costco, due to an agreement with the third-party company, he did note that plans filed with Liberty Lake called for a 167,000-square-foot building and 24 fueling stations—specifications that closely match the Costco built in 2018 at 12020 North Newport Highway.
