SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane City Council Member Jonathan Bingle called on Mayor Lisa Brown and other city council members to denounce anti-Semitism and violent rhetoric.

“I want to thank the Mayor and City Council Members for standing against acts of hate in the city. This is the right thing to do. Now it is time to stand against the most frequent, hateful rhetoric in the city and call on those at City Council meetings to end their disturbing campaign against Israel. Their rhetoric goes beyond policy disagreement and calls for violence against Jews with statements like, ‘Globalize the Intifada,’ and, ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Council Member Bingle said.

Bingle said that this rheotropic has been troubling at City Council meetings since Oct. 7, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel.

“Our city should be a place where our citizens feel safe regardless of their religion or heritage.” Bingle said in his statement.
