SPOKANE, Wash. – The Davenport Hotels, beloved landmarks in downtown Spokane, have unveiled exciting new plans to renovate and rebrand the Davenport Lusso. While many are eager for the transformation, the announcement has sparked mixed reactions from those concerned about preserving the hotel’s historic charm amidst the upgrades.
The Davenport Hotel Group recently finished renovations of the long-standing Historic Hotel in downtown Spokane and has now announced a further extension of the upgrades as they move work across the street to the formerly known Davenport Lusso.
The renovations come as a part of purchase of the hotel group by Davidson Hospitality Group after it was owned by the Worthy family for many years. The off-market transaction was made final in December of 2021.
Davidson Hospitality Group is a partner with many well-known hotel groups like Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Kimpton.
The Davenport Hotel recently announced the new plans to transform the Lusso and rename it to the Louie after Louis Davenport.
“The Louie will bring a fresh, luxurious experience to downtown Spokane while honoring our rich heritage.” the Davenport said in a post.
The post sparked mixed reactions online with some people worried the hotel could lose its historic charm and heritage with the new upgrades.
Construction of the hotel has begun and is expected to be completed in February of 2025.
