PROSSER, Wash. – A deadly crash on I-82 west of Prosser started a wildfire, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson.

A press memo from WSP says that around 5:24 p.m., Joel Flores, 45, from Sunnyside was driving westbound on I-82 when he left the roadway to the right and rolled.

WSP says that Flores was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. His next of kin has been notified.

Thorson says the crash happened near milepost 78 and delayed traffic. The fire has since been put out and traffic has cleared up.
