SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has arrested a suspect following reports of a fatal stabbing and serious injury to another person.

On June 5, around 9:26 p.m., SPD responded to a residence in the 5300 block of West Sunset Boulevard to assist the Spokane Fire Department (SFD). SFD had been called to the home after receiving a medical alert.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a woman at the front door with significant injuries, including multiple stab wounds. A second person was discovered dead inside the home.

SPD officers noted that the suspect was not present at the scene when SFD and SPD arrived. The injured woman was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.

SPD said they secured the scene and then officers initiated a search of the area. Acting on new information regarding a related home, officers checked the premises in an effort to locate the suspect.

Upon entry, officers encountered and detained a woman, identified as Kelly M. Hyde, 34, who was subsequently transported to the Major Crimes Unit for further questioning.

Based on evidence and information gathered at the scene, SPD determined Hyde’s involvement and placed her under arrest. She was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of Second Degree Murder and First Degree Assault, both of which are Domestic Violence-related.
