Death of Mattawa teen from possible fentanyl overdose under investigation

MATTAWA, Wash.-The death of a 16-year-old Mattawa girl possibly due to a fentanyl overdose is being investigated by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The teen’s father took her to a fire station near Mattawa on the afternoon of June 3 after finding her unconscious when he came home for lunch, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

EMT’s tried to revive her, but were unsuccessful. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5.

The Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team is assisting the Grant County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation into the death and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the INET tip line at 509-766-3194.
