Dog attack in Spokane sparks dangerous dog investigation by SCRAPS

SPOKANE, Wash. – A recent dog attack in Spokane is under investigation by Spokane County Regional Animal Protective Service (SCRAPS) as a dangerous dog case.

Video footage shows a dog charging out of a house’s open front gate and causing chaos on the sidewalk. The victim took swift action to defend his own dog and was helped by a passerby who intervened by kicking the attacking dog.

Emergency services were called to the scene, with the Spokane Fire Department providing aid to the victim. A neighbor, who recorded the incident and asked to remain anonymous for safety, overheard medics suggesting that the victim might need stitches. They also asked if he wanted to be taken to the hospital and if his dog needed to go to the vet.

In a dangerous dog investigation, SCRAPS will consider several factors, such as whether the attack was unprovoked, the extent of injuries to the dogs and the person, and any prior history related to the attacking dog.

At this point, SCRAPS has not yet contacted the dog’s owners or reviewed the video. The assigned investigator is currently out of the office. If SCRAPS determines the dogs are dangerous, they will legally be required to seize them.
