Double house fire in Peaceful Valley causes significant damage

SPOKANE, Wash. – A double house fire broke out in Peaceful Valley, causing significant damage and sending smoke billowing through downtown Spokane.

Firefighters responded to the 1600 block of West Water Avenue around 6:00 a.m., finding large flames and visible smoke. The fire started in one house and quickly spread to the house next door.

The Spokane Fire Department confirmed that one man was found at the scene without injuries, but they are unsure if both houses were occupied at the time.

A neighbor near the houses said she believed that both were occupied, but firefighters have not confirmed that yet.

The SFD also confirmed they are looking for a dog that was on the property at the time of the fire.

The fire is under investigation by local authorities.
