SPOKANE, Wash. – Downtown Spokane is set to become even more vibrant with a new initiative aimed at lighting up its alleys. The Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) is spearheading this project, which promises to transform the area into a lively destination.
Emilie Cameron says, “Really what we have created is a destination downtown. We’ve known for a long time, it’s the heart of our city, it’s the heart of our region… but it’s also a place where there really is something for everyone.”
The idea to light up the alleys led to the creation of the “Merry and Magical Lane” which can be enjoyed starting November 23rd on Post Street, from River Park Square at Main to the Davenport Hotel on First Avenue.
The DSP is committed to overcoming any obstacles in their path to ensure the success of this project.
“Ya know, we are determined. I don’t think that you’re gonna find a roadblock that is going to be insurmountable as we look at how we continue to activate and enliven our downtown,” Cameron added.
The DSP has chosen Lincoln-Post Alley as the starting point due to its minimal need for changes and the cooperation of neighboring businesses. The plan is to work westward through downtown, illuminating one alley at a time.
The project will continue throughout the next calendar year, bringing new light and energy to Spokane’s downtown.
