SPOKANE, Wash. – River Park Square is seeing larger crowds this holiday season, and local shoppers are noticing the difference in safety measures.
Kathy and Sierra Motley, who frequently visit downtown Spokane during the holidays, shared their experiences. In the past, they have felt unsafe but now feel reassured by the increased presence of public safety officials.
“Yeah, I was super happy to see all the public safety officials out. They made me feel safer, especially with my kids,” said Kathy.
For those heading downtown, Spokane Police advise parking in well-lit areas, using the buddy system, and not leaving packages or personal items in plain sight.
For added security, the Downtown Spokane Partnership offers safety walks until 6:00 p.m.
