SPOKANE, Wash. — In the continuous effort to support businesses in the Downtown Spokane Business Improvement District (BID), the Downtown Spokane Partnership announced grant funds to enhance the look of multiple storefronts.

The” Small Business Façade Enhancement Grant Program” aims to improve the appearance and functionality of downtown Spokane storefronts. According to the Downtown Spokane Partnership, this will make a measurable difference in the economic vitality of businesses in the downtown neighborhood.

“Research indicates that exterior improvements to buildings lead to increased economic vitality for businesses in that commercial area, along with increased foot traffic and public safety,” Downtown Spokane Partnership said.

Grant funding was made available through the support of BECU Philanthropy. Business and property owners could be rewarded up to $5,000 for completed work. The application period is open for eligible businesses and will remain open until the $30,000 total of dedicated funds is exhausted.

“Beautifying our downtown storefronts is more than just a cosmetic upgrade, it’s a strategic investment in the heart of our city,” said Emilie Cameron, President and CEO of Downtown Spokane Partnership. “I am thrilled that the DSP is again partnering with BECU this year for a second round of funding with an expanded focus on patios, parklets and people, to enhance the downtown experience for everyone.”

Applications and criteria for the 2024 Small Business Facade Enhancement Program are available online through the Downtown Spokane Partnership website.
