COEUR D’Alene, Idaho – Some women allege they were drugged at Coeur d’Alene bars earlier this month.
One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told NonStop Local, she had attended a work Christmas party on December 19. Afterwards, she, and two coworkers, stopped by a Coeur d’Alene bar.
The woman said she only had one beer that evening.
“We were just sitting there…Talking… We really connected and had such a good time,” the woman said.
After enjoying the evening and the one beer with her coworkers, the woman’s husband arrived and took her home around midnight.
Once home, the woman said, she passed out. The next morning, she was extremely ill and thought she was having a seizure.
Her vision was blurry, she felt like the room was spinning and could not walk straight.
“I crawled out of bed, I crawled into the shower, crawled out, dressed myself on the floor, brushed my teeth on the floor. Everything I had to do was on the floor, because I couldn’t stand up,” the woman said.
She said the other two women at the bar with her claimed they had the exact same symptoms, with one of the women saying she had no memory of the night before.
The three women came to the conclusion they had been drugged.
The woman I spoke with filed a report with Coeur d’Alene Police.
The Department confirmed they are investigating.
Police also received similar reports of women being drugged at other city bars on the 15th and 21st.
Police told NonStop Local that investigating a crime like this is challenging, as the chemicals used in date-rape-drugs are flushed out quickly. Victims would need to go to the hospital right away for the drugs to be detected.
None of the three women were tested.
“But, where it the helpline when something like this happens. Or, a place where we can go and we can prove we were violated,” the woman said.
Even without the confirmation, the women believe their symptoms were consistent with being drugged with Gamma-Hydroxybutyric (GHB).
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration identifies GHB as a common date-rape drug.
The woman told NonStop Local that she and the two other coworkers felt ill for about a week.
Ahead of New Year’s Eve, a big party night, the police and the woman said the public needs to make sure, if going to bars or parties, that they go out with a group. If getting a drink, make sure it comes from a bartender, watch the drinks being made and never leave a drink unattended.
