COLFAX, Wash. — A person was airlifted to a hospital after a two-car crash in Wawawai Canyon on Thursday morning.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, emergency services responded to the crash on Wawawai Road near milepost 11 around 10 a.m. Thursday.
Deputies reported that the accident occurred when the driver of a northbound truck crossed the center line and struck a southbound truck. The driver of the southbound truck sustained serious injuries and was trapped inside before being safely rescued. He was later airlifted to a hospital in Lewiston, and his condition is unknown at this time.
The driver of the other truck received a citation for negligent driving but was not injured in the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
