CHATTAROY, Wash. — A man could face charges of vehicular assault after a crash seriously injured two people, including one transferred to the hospital via Life Flight in Chattaroy.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash happened on April 20 on North Newport Highway and East Chattaroy Road.
WSP said the driver of a Honda was driving northbound on State Route 2 approaching Chattaroy Road. The driver of a Kia was traveling westbound on Chattaroy Road, and when they attempted to cross the northbound lanes of SR 2, they were struck by the Honda.
WSP confirmed the driver of the Honda will face charges of vehicular assault. The driver of both vehicles was transferred to the hospital, one by Life Flight. Their condition remains unknown.
According to WSP, the cause of this crash was excessive speed.
North Newport Highway was closed for an extensive period. SR 2 was also shut down briefly so Life Flight could land.
