FOLLY BEACH, S.C. – The first-ever New Year’s Eve drone show in Folly Beach was unexpectedly cut short when drones began falling from the sky.
Just three minutes into the show, police instructed families to clear the area as drones started dropping.
One attendee expressed their disappointment, saying, “There’s nothing like fireworks. I personally wanted to see fireworks.”
Another witness described the scene, “There was a dolphin that came up and looked like it was jumping. But it looked like a gust of wind hit it and it just kind of dispersed into a bunch of different pieces.”
A man was hit by a falling drone but has been treated for his injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified, and an investigation is underway.
