SPOKANE, Wash. – People across the Inland Northwest participated in the biannual drug take back day aimed at preventing drug overdoses and keeping prescription medications out of the wrong hands.
In Spokane, multiple locations welcomed community members who stopped by to drop off unwanted or unused medications. The event focused on safely collecting these drugs to prevent misuse. During the last drug take back day in April, more than 335 tons of prescription drugs were turned in nationwide.
Community efforts like these are crucial for ensuring that potentially harmful medications are disposed of safely and that they don’t contribute to the ongoing opioid crisis.
