CHENEY, Wash. – Eastern Washington University (EWU) has announced plans to sell the FCC broadcast license for KEWU Jazz 89.5 FM.
The sale, expected to be completed by mid-2025, will allow the university to reinvest the proceeds into educational programs, including Film and Music Technology, which have historically supported the station.
KEWU has been part of the EWU and Spokane community since its launch in 1950. The station will continue to operate, airing prerecorded jazz music, until the sale is finalized.
As part of the transition, KEWU’s CD library has been donated to Spokane Public Radio. EWU said that they are also exploring future broadcasting and streaming opportunities.
