SPOKANE, Wash. – As the nation and eastern Washington near the Nov. 5 election, Frieda Zimmerman has been appointed as the district’s election officer.
Zimmerman will be responsible for handling voter’s rights concerns, threats and election fraud with assistance from the Justice Department Headquarters in Washington.
The announcement came from United States Attorney Vanessa Waldref as Zimmerman previously served as the Assistant United States Attorney.
Waldref addressed the importance of the role as we near the election season.
“The right to vote is the cornerstone of American democracy. We all must ensure that those who are entitled to this right can exercise it if they choose, and that those who seek to corrupt it are brought to justice.” Waldref said.
