UPPER COLUMBIA RIVER, Wash. – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is focusing on cleanup efforts along several areas of the Upper Columbia River.
The EPA has officially designated spots along a 150-mile stretch of the river, from the Canadian border to the Grand Coulee Dam, as Superfund sites.
This designation targets soil and other sediments that may be polluted with arsenic and other heavy metals. However, it does not include the river itself or Lake Roosevelt.
