SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Firefighters are working to put out a brush fire that sparked late Monday afternoon south of the Dishman Hills Natural Area in Spokane Valley.
Updated Sept. 3 at 6:15 p.m. – All evacuation orders have been lifted according to the Spokane Valley Fire Department.
Updated Sept. 2 at 7:35 p.m. – All evacuations have been lowered to Level 1 for the Cimmaron Fire.
Updated Sept. 2 at 7:15 p.m. – Spokane Valley firefighters completed work on the Cimmaron Fire at around 7 p.m., with the Level 1 evacuations being rescinded to All Clear.
Updated Sept. 2 at 7:05 p.m. – The fire was at 25 acres as of around 7 p.m. according to the Spokane Valley Fire Department. It was 80% wet lined and not contained, with evacuation levels remaining in place.
The fire, called the Cimmaron Fire by officials, initially forced Level 2 evacuations south of Appleway Boulevard, east South Park Road, west of Sunderland Drive and north of 44th Avenue.
No structures have been lost, though ten buildings are currently being protected by firefighters from the Valley, the City of Spokane and Department of Natural Resources.
Those living in that area are asked to be set to leave. Level 2 is the final preliminary evacuation stage before level 3, which is an emergency evacuation alert only issued when residents must evacuate.
