AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Travelers on westbound U.S. Highway 2 through Airway Heights at Lyons Road should expect delays due to construction.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) reports that the Kalispel Tribe, through contractor Garco Construction, will shift westbound lanes to a new configuration for the third phase of roundabout construction. Starting after 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, the two westbound lanes will move north to the newly constructed part of the roundabout, with completion expected by 5 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17.

According to WSDOT, construction, ongoing since early June, will cause delays Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with additional work on Fridays and Saturdays as needed. Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane will remain open throughout the project.

The roundabout, built in four stages, will be completed by the end of September. The new roundabout will enhance access to Kalispel Tribal properties and improve traffic flow.
