AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – A one-of-a-kind group of Fairchild Air Force Airmen ended their deployment and finally reunited with their families.

Families greeted their loved ones with bright posters and big hugs as they returned to Spokane.

The Airmen had spent the last two years serving in 6-month rotations in the 92nd Air Refueling Wing (ARW) in Qatar.

This group of Airmen are unique in being one of the first units to send airmen under this kind of deployment model called AFFORGEN which prepares them for future deployments.

The AFFORGEN model runs with the initial phases that focus on training, medical readiness, and certifications. The third phase involves deployment tasks, while the final phase allows Airmen to reset before starting the cycle again.
